Astrid Verhoef stages scenes that verge on the surreal. Placing individuals and objects where they don’t seem to belong, moving the familiar into an unfamiliar landscape, her photographs seem to recontextualise normality. Juxtaposing human and object, Astrid examines identity and emotion in relation to modern society versus natural spaces.

“Questioning the boundaries between the real and the surreal, a profound

interpretation of life emerges.”
